Circle History
June 1954:
The Young Women's circle was organized by Mrs. Luta Tebault, WMU
President and the Pastor's wife, Mrs. Wade Harding. They guided
the organization with nine (9) members present. Doris McClain
was a charter member and is still an active member after 53 years.
February 1958:
It was decided to name our circle after a foreign missionary.
We chose "Ruth Walden" from Norfolk, Virginia, who had
served in Africa many years. We were very fortunate to spend many
visits with her in our homes, her home, later in the Baptist Retirement
home, as well as many occasions at our church.
March 1967:
It was voted to meet on the last Tuesday of each month and
we still do to this day.

2001:
In 2001, our circle designed and sold 112 afghans
that included the church history, as well as images of the church
as it has grown throughout the years.
We study missionary work, do many community projects,
support all church-related projects, and feed the Creeds Ruritans
twice a year. For 29 years, we have honored the annual graduates
and their parents with a banquet.
We have had as many as 22 members, but presently
have eight (8) active and one in-active, due to illness. Anyone
wishing to join us will be graciously welcomed.
We are small in number now, but are proud to accomplish
our goals - to be a part of Blackwater Baptist Church WMU history,
as well as do good works in the name of a wonderful missionary,
Ruth Walden.
Respectively Submitted,
Adabelle Shirley Riddick
Secretary-Treasurer
