You know how the angels said that they had brought tidings of great joy in Luke 2:10? Well, that's exactly what should be said about Easter. Knowing that our Savior has risen from the dead and is alive and with us always is definitely tidings of great joy!
Easter at BBC was wonderful. We didn't get to have a sunrise service due to the weather, but our regular service was anything but "regular." There were well over 100 people in attendance and everyone was in such a joyful spirit. It's always a blessing to be in a room of joyful folks! And the donated Easter lilies that decorated the church smelled delicious. Proceeds from the purchase of the flowers benefited the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for Home Missions.
Gary and Angela began the service with the Easter story of the Risen Savior in the song "Alleluia." The congregation lifted their own voices in traditional hymns of "Low In the Grave He Lay" and "Because He Lives" accompanied by Ms Sylvia on the piano and our great guitar group. Later, the Shades of Grace sang "I Will Rise" for another music special.
We all had to smile as the many children were dismissed to Children's Church, all dressed in their Easter finery and bow ties. How cute they were! (They scurried about enjoying the Easter Egg Hunt the day before).
Pastor Lynn presented a sermon that was different from what is traditionally expected. Entitled "Why Are You Afraid," you can hear it at: http://www.blackwaterbaptist.org/uploads/6/0/7/8/6078740/2016-03-27.mp3.
