Things are just jumping at BBC lately. If you thought last Sunday was awesome know that the trend continues!
This morning we were blessed to start our service off with a Baptism Service as Bobby, Eli, and Chris made a public profession of faith as they were baptized as born-again believers. That always makes for a wonderful day when people come to the Lord, especially when the children come!
We were also blessed to have Ms. Sylvia back home after a nice vacation with her daughter. She'll be tickling the ivories at the piano again very soon!
Today our uplifted voices singing praises to God were enhanced with 4 guitars and the surprise addition of Pat R. on his harmonica! He can sure turn a tune on those things!! We're so grateful for him to share his talents with us in service to God!
(Click below to hear Pat & the others playing as the congregation sings)!
We had a very good sermon today by Pastor Lynn. In view of the unrest and uncertainty over the last few days in Dallas and elsewhere, Lynn helped us to prepare for troublesome times, both now and in the future by giving us:
What To Do When Sudden Fear Happens
Our day began on a sad note when we learned that our dear sweet Gloria Whitehurst has graduated to be in the presence of our dear Lord. A member of Blackwater her entire life, God blessed us with her dynamic piano skills for over 40 years. The number of lives she touched can hardly be counted. She truly embodied Proverbs 16:32a - "He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty" because she hardly ever had a harsh word or thought towards anyone. She will be sorely missed.
We also learned that Pat W. lost a cousin early Sunday morning and that Ms Chrystal F.'s brother-in-law had passed earlier in the week. So many families are experiencing loss and grief. We ask everyone to pray for God's peace during their time of sorrow.
The Joyful Noise Choir gave their 2nd performance of the new church year, singing "Stand Up, Stand Up For Jesus." Beautifully done, the dedicated participants really enjoy singing the 'old' songs. The BBC congregation seems to never tire of hearing the great classic hymns many have grown up with.
After Dr. Hardaway's message the invitation was sung. Four children who were recently Baptized came forward, requesting membership into the BBC family. A resounding "Amen" by the congregants was the expressed vote and welcome. Congratulations to Jack, Wyatt, Grace, and Emily!!
Things are moving along at BBC with regards to the pastor search. Last week's announcement by the Pastor Search Committee that Dr. Lynn Hardaway was being proposed as candidate led to a potential contract to be handed out today. Now everyone knows what BBC is expecting and looking forward to. Absentee ballots were dispensed to those members who will not be able to attend next Sunday's vote, being held after church. But before we get to that there will be a Meet and Greet on Saturday night at 7pm to meet with the Hardaway family and ask any final questions the congregation may have.
Please pray for God's perfect will for our church.
We're already 3 weeks into the new 2013 year, but we haven't slowed down a bit. It may be cold outside, but things are happening at BBC to keep everyone busy and warm! The calendar is getting filled with lots of events.
Right now there are 2 Bible Studies happening. The men meet Monday evenings to discuss the Book of James; the ladies are meeting Wednesday mornings to focus on Beth Moore's A Woman's Heart - God's Dwelling Place. . Everyone's having a grand time learning about our marvelous God and enjoying good fellowship at the same time!
The Youth are going bowling on January 27 and the church's fellowship dinner and business meeting will be that same evening.
February 3 is Super Bowl Sunday School and our 2nd BBC Blood Drive will be held on February 11.
Don't forget to mark February 10 when we have a Baptism after the worship service! And that evening at 6:30 John Savage will share his personal life-changing testimony! Both are sure to be a blessing to you!
There are tons of happenings scheduled. Check the calendar to see where you can serve or learn more about God and His love for you!
BBC is a warm and welcoming family of like-minded believers who come together to worship our amazing God. Since 1774 BBC has served the Blackwater community and while steeped in tradition we also blend in a bit of contemporary to transition to an exciting future. We'd love to have you join us!
