It's the end of September and the end of the first month of our new church year. It's always neat to start a new year. Everyone has such a heigthened sense of excitement. Today was another terrific day at BBC! If you weren't there then you missed a great experience! But it doesn't end here! We'd love to have you join us! Will we see you in October!?
Thanks again to the baking team. We had nine very nice baked good baskets to share with people.
Thank you to the prayer team - your prayers matter, 1 John 5:14–15 says - And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.
We had a great night last night on our GWMT. We had 3 teams made up of 8 people who went out on mission to GW. We made 10 visits, passed out 9 baskets of baked goods, invited 7 families to church, prayed with 6 families, presented the gospel to 3 homes, identified 1 home that needs the work team to provide assistance and 1 person accepted Christ as their Savior!
Looking forward to next week! If you'd like to join us on visitation we will be going out monday at 6pm.
Together in Christ, Pastor Greg
This Sunday, September 23rd Lesli Cotton, a Word of Life Missionary will be sharing for about 10 minutes about the work that she is involved with. Please pray for her and consider helping to support her. Read more about Lesli and her work.
Last Sunday night there was a great turnout of 15-20 people arriving for the mission organizational meeting. Thanks to all who came and wanted to be a part of this.
The following night two teams visited five homes in the Gibbs Woods area. Five baskets of goodies were delivered. (Thank you to the Baking Team) The Visitation teams were invited to pray with three of the homes. They presented the gospel to two homes and offered work assistance to three homes.
It was really exciting and fun to see the heart of so many of BBC folks earnestly working and praying for this effort. If you’d like to join us, we’ll be meeting at the church at 6:30pm on Sunday 9/23. And to quote our prayer team leader: “Remember. . . God isn’t in the business of mediocrity, so PRAY BIG!! “
Yesterday two BBC members attended the SBCV's E412 Conference at Nansemond Baptist Church in Suffolk. The conference began with a great time of worship, singing praises, and hearing a wonderful encouraging sermon before breaking into smaller mentoring groups.
What if all churches were always able to produce fire for Jesus like happened within those walls? People from all over came and in that moment there was one Great Unifier - Jesus!
I think because of that experience I left my own comfort zone at church this morning, and spoke out during the Praise Team performance, asking the congregation to show their joy (as the song asked)...for them to let themselves take that expressisve leap.
It was so cool. The song got a little louder as people lifted their voices and clapped in time to the music; a few more smiles appeared and I really think people "felt a fire" in that moment.
We need this all the time, every time! Just light your fire for Jesus and left it shine!!
Wednesday morning saw no less than 10 participants at the new Missing Pieces Bible study by Jennifer Rothchild. The study meets in the Youth room at BBC and will continue each Wednesday @ 9:30am - 11am for 6 more weeks. If you are interested please don't hesitate to join the group next week! We'd love to have you!
Last Sunday September 9, was just special all around. It was "Back to Church" Sunday and we had lots of visitors to welcome... Meet & Greet is always terrific for our members because they never see a stranger, just more home folk they've never met before.
Pastor Greg's sermon was about Following Jesus and all the music went along with it, so the whole worship experience was awesome from beginning to end. One of our youngster's helped Pastor Greg make the point of following, even to walking behind him on the choir loft railing. It was beautiful to see her accepting his direction without question, just as we should follow Jesus and know He'll always take care of us.
After church everyone went to Munden's Point Park for our annual church picnic. We had lots of food and it was great fun for all ages. Take a moment to check out the photos on the Picnic tab!
