Another great day at church today! A minor hick-up in our sound system was quickly brought under control, but other than that things went smoothly. Guitars and piano played heartily while the congregation sang praises to our Lord! Everything was awesome.
Every Sunday when the children are dismissed to Children's Church and Mission Friends we are reminded of how truly blessed we are to have such a large group of kids at BBC. Jesus said to love the little children and we all love ours so much!
Under upcoming events we are now taking Easter Lily orders for the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for Home Missions. We're preparing for the annual Easter Hunt on the day before Easter and our joint community sunrise Easter service will be held waterside down at the Trading Post early Easter morning, followed by our normal worship service at 10am.
Pastor Lynn brought us a great sermon today. Crossing The Jordan continues our study in Joshua, with a lot of good points about following God.
At the conclusion of our service today we said good-bye to the Schrecks who are being transferred to another state. We are grateful for his service to our country and will continue to support them with our prayers. After a tearful statement from the young couple all of our Deacons surrounded them as we prayed for them and the path God leads them. They will be missed!
We're so proud of our kids for stepping up to share their talents! Thank you, Christen, Liza, Wyatt, Emma, & John Michael!! Of course, we thank our 'big' kid, Pastor Lynn for creating this new department and sharing his own playing skills too. (Missing this week was Gary, another skilled guitar guru who willingly shares his talents for Jesus).
On Super Bowl Sunday all the Sunday School classes meet in the social hall for a Bible Trivia Super Bowl competition. Within the fun and laughter is the serious learning of using a Bible and knowing its contents. This year's winners were the Teens and Kids classes! Congratulations on a job well done! It's so nice to think that our young people have a zest for Jesus!
We were truly blessed to have Gary, Mikey, and Wyatt accompanying our hymns with their guitars today! What a treat!
With Pastor Lynn away this week BBC was delighted to welcome Rev. Jim McLendon back to bring our message. Titled "Come Eat, Drink, Listen, and Live" Rev. McLendon shared three main points:
Upcoming events include Youth Sunday and Baptism next Sunday. We'll have another blood drive on February 17 and after church on February 21 the War Room Bible Study will finish their final lesson with a potluck luncheon.
BBC is a warm and welcoming family of like-minded believers who come together to worship our amazing God. Since 1774 BBC has served the Blackwater community and while steeped in tradition we also blend in a bit of contemporary to transition to an exciting future. We'd love to have you join us!
